Looking for Christmas crochet patterns to help you get into the festive spirit?
There are five FREE crochet Christmas patterns in this post to help you find your festive cheer (even though life feels like a lot!). We are gearing up for the end of the year, and we’re all feeling it. The kids are tired, and so am I!
That’s why I love these crochet earrings. They are quick, easy, and cute. I always have a long list of Christmas crochet patterns and projects and never actually follow through. But these easy crochet earrings made me feel like I’d achieved something with very little effort, so I’ll take the win.
DK yarn (cotton or acrylic)(I used Charity DK)
3mm crochet hook
Scissors
Stitch marker
Earring hooks
MR – magic ring
sc – single crochet
sc inc – single crochet increase (make two single crochet in the same stitch)
ch – chain
ss – slip stitch
bs – bobble stitch (Yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch. Pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook. Repeat 5 times until there are 6 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops. Single crochet in the next stitch.)
sc twist stitch – This stitch begins like a single crochet. Insert your hook into the stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. There will be two loops on your hook, like in a normal single crochet. Now, twist your hook counterclockwise, twisting the two loops. Then yarn over and pull through the loops, completing your single crochet. You can find a helpful video from Tamara Kelly – Moogly here.
I’m a sucker for Christmas crochet patterns, and Christmas earrings are a fun and easy way to jazz up an outfit during the festive season. I wore a pair to a school function the other day and got so many compliments. Is there anything better than saying, “Thanks, I made them”?
Make two.
Round 1: 4 sc in a Mr (4)
Round 2: sc in each stitch around (4)
Round 3: [sc, sc inc] x 2 (6)
Round 4: sc in each stitch around (6)
Round 5: [2sc, sc inc] x 2 (8)
Round 6: [3sc, sc inc] x 2 (10)
Round 7: [4sc, sc inc] x 2 (12)
Round 8: [5sc, sc inc] x 2 (14)
Round 9: [6sc, sc inc] x 2 (16)
Round 10: sc twist stitch in each stitch around. Fasten off.
Sew the bottom of the tree closed. You can decorate the trees however you like. I chose to make “baubles” using French knots, but you could add beads, embroider stars, or leave them plain.
Finally, attach the earring hooks.
Leaves. Make four.
Row 1: Chain 9. Turn (9)
Row 2: sc in the second stitch from the hook and in each stitch across (8)
For the next row, you will be crocheting up the other side of the starting chain.
Row 3: sc, *[ch 4, ss in the second ch, ss to the first ch, sc in the next stitch, ss in the next]*. Repeat from * to * x 3. Fasten off
Berries. Make 4.
Row 1: ch 3. Turn (3)
Row 2: Bobble stitch in the second ch from the hook; ss to the first chain. Fasten off.
Sew the leaves together and sew on the berries. Then, add the earring hooks.
Make four sides.
Row 1: ch 2. Turn (2)
Row 2: sc in the second chain from the hook. Turn. ch 1 (1)
Row 3: sc inc. ch 1. Turn (2)
Row 4: sc, sc inc. ch 1. Turn (3)
Row 5: 2sc, sc inc. ch 1 Turn (4)
Row 6: [sc, sc inc] x 2. ch 1 . Turn (6)
Row 7 – 10: sc in each stitch across. Fasten off (6)
Embroider the details onto two of the gingerbread house panels. Then, sew the panels together. I chose to use a contrasting colour, but how you decorate your gingerbread house earrings is completely up to you. Finally, add the earring hooks.
Make two.
Round 1: 4 sc in a Mr (4)
Round 2 – 4: sc in each stitch around (4)
Round 5: [sc, sc inc] x 2 (6)
Round 6: [2sc, sc inc] x 2 (8)
Round 7: [3sc, sc inc] x 2 (10)
Round 8: [4sc, sc inc] x 2 (12)
I chose to add a fluffy sc row at this stage and a fluffy ball at the top of the hat, but this is optional. I used the fluffy yarn to sc the bottom of the hat closed. Attach the earring hooks.
Make four. Fasten off after the first side but not the second in each case because you will slip stitch the sides together.
Row 1: ch 6. Turn (6)
Row 2: sc in each stitch across (6)
Row 3 – 5: sc in each stitch across (6)
Hold two sides together and connect them using a slip stitch. Sew on any details you like, such as a bow. Attach the earring hooks.
I love wearing things I’ve made, but clothing can take forever. Earrings are quick, easy, and versatile (I may have turned some of these into keychains). I also love using Christmas crochet patterns to add a touch of homemade goodness to out home.
I can’t wait to see how you personalise your Christmas earrings. If you liked these patterns, you might also enjoy these Halloween earrings or this Crochet Flower Bag. You can also find some of my ad-free patterns in my Etsy shop.
Let's connect and crochet together!
