Free Crochet Flower Bag Pattern

Are you looking for an easy crochet flower bag pattern? Great! Because I’ve got one for you. This little cutie was exactly what I needed. Life and work had been hectic, and I was in a crochet wasteland. Then, my kids reminded me about a birthday party they had coming up, and it was the perfect excuse for me to dust off the hooks.

My style is an eclectic/vintage mix, and this little crochet flower bag ticks all my boxes. The French knots might be my favourite element. It’s a perfect scrappy crochet project and you can mix and match whatever yarns you have available.

I can’t wait to see the creative flair you give your bags, so please tag me in your makes (@caityj.creates).

Notes

This crochet flower bag pattern is worked in the round, using a stitch marker.

You can play around with different yarns. I used a slightly chunky yarn for the bag and a DK for the petals and French knots. This crochet flower bag would look super cute in velvet or blanket yarn.

The numbers in brackets are the total number of stitches in each round.

Putting Everything Together

Next, you are going to make French knots in the middle of the flower. Here is a helpful tutorial if you’ve never made them before.

Line up Side 1 and Side 2 so that the slip stitches line up. Join Side 1 and Side 2 by slip stitching them together. Do not place any stitches in the 15 slip stitches of each round and don’t fasten off. There are photos below that show you how to line up the sides before attaching.

When you have slip stitched the sides together, chain 100 (or more if you want a longer strap) and attach the strap to the other side of the bag with a slip stitch. Then, place a hdc in each stitch across and ss to join to the bag.
